Upcoming Education Sessions for FABA members

Five Great Reasons to Become a Builder/Developer Member

The HBA actively monitors the local, state, and national legislative and regulatory changes that affect the residential construction industry. The HBA staff, working with Kansas Building Industry Association (KBIA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is committed to protecting your business interests and keeping you informed.

Through seminars, workshops, and publications, the HBA offers its members many ways to stay current on issues and ideas crucial to the industry.  Once you are a member of the HBA you are also a member of the State and National Home Builders Associations, thus providing you with access not only to our local publications and services, but also state and national. See upcoming sessions here.

Through seminars, workshops, and publications, the HBA offers its members many ways to stay current on issues and ideas crucial to the industry.

Involvement in or advertising at HBA events such as the Flint Hills Home Show, the Parade of Homes™, or any Golf Tournament provides an excellent opportunity for professional recognition. All members are also included in the Membership Directory and website. These listings are a great way to contact or be contacted by other members and the public.

Flint Hills Area Builders Association offers several cost-effective insurance plans for general liability, builders’ risk, health and other insurance needs. Offered through your local agency and the Kansas Building Insurance Group.

The NAHB has a professional staff of more than 300 in Washington, D.C. whose jobs are to look out for your best interest. Below are just some of the functions of the NAHB:

  • Analyze policy issues
  • Housing industry public relations through the media and other outlets
  • Monitor and work toward improving the housing finance system
  • Analyze and forecast economic and consumer trends
  • Educate, train and disseminate information to members
  • Represent the industry’s interests on Capitol Hill
  • Strive to ensure that housing remains a national priority when laws are passed and policies established
  • Work with federal agencies on regulations affecting the housing industry in areas such as mortgage finance, codes, energy and the environment
  • Strive to shape court decisions by being involved in litigation on land development, environmental and construction liability matters, so that laws and regulations will be interpreted favorably for the housing industry

All these areas affect contractors, their employees and customers, and HBA membership is a signal of professionalism and commitment to the building industry.

Visit the NAHB website to learn more about national buying discounts, the value and benefits of membership.

NAHB serves the entire home building, development and remodeling industry. To become a member of NAHB, you must join the local home builders association (HBA) serving your area. Find it with our online locator.

About one-third of NAHB’s members are home builders, multifamily developers, and/or remodelers, while the remaining two-thirds work in closely related fields such as mortgage financing and building products.

When you join your local association, you automatically become a member of all three levels of the NAHB federation: local, state (where state associations exist), and national. That’s three memberships for the price of one!

Builder Members. Builders are the heart and soul of NAHB. Builder members are directly involved in building homes. They include small-volume builders, production builders, light commercial builders and remodelers.

Associate Members. These are the people who sell lumber, windows, appliances, etc. or offer services such as mortgage finance.

To learn more about the benefits of membership or for help getting started, contact FABA at 785-532-9080
