📣 A Season of Transition

After many meaningful years serving as Executive Officer of the Flint Hills Area Builders Association, I’ll be retiring as your Executive Officer at the end of 2025.

As my unofficial retirement date approaches, we are actively engaged in ensuring a seamless leadership transition. The search for the next Executive Officer is currently underway, and I will be working closely with the Board of Directors and the incoming leader to facilitate a smooth and effective handover in early December. Our shared goal is to uphold the Association’s mission and continue advancing its impact in the years to come.

For me, a new chapter in life is beginning this coming spring—and I’m excited to see where it leads. Looking ahead, I am eager to embrace new opportunities, spend more time with family, and remain engaged at least part time with the building community in meaningful ways. Though I will be stepping away from my formal role, my commitment to the values and relationships cultivated through this organization remains steadfast.

🧭Core Responsibilities

Leadership & Governance

  • Serve as the chief administrative officer, Executive Officer (EO) reporting directly to the Board of Directors.

  • Implement board policies and strategic initiatives.

  • Prepare board meeting agendas, reports, and maintain official records.

  • Engage/Advocate in Kansas Building Industry Association and National Association of Home Builders

Membership Development & Retention

  • Recruit new members through outreach, networking, and community engagement.

  • Promote member businesses through association channels and events.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date membership records.

  • Develop strategies to retain existing members and increase member satisfaction.

  • Overall Compensation will include factors and bonuses as determined by the Board, based on recruitment and retention of membership.

Community & Industry Engagement

  • Represent the association in public forums, community events, and industry meetings.

  • Promote the association’s mission and activities to the broader community.

  • Advocate for Area Trade programs for students. High Schools and colleges.

  • Engagement in Trade Program Advisory Committees with high schools and colleges.

  • Build partnerships with local and State government, educational institutions, and trade organizations.

Marketing & Communications

  • Oversee all internal and external communications, including newsletters, press releases, and social media.

  • Promote the association’s events, initiatives, and membership benefits.

  • Maintain and update the association’s website and digital presence.

  • Create Graphics, flyers, announcements and programs through Canva or other resources

 

Event Planning & Management

  • Plan and execute events such as home shows, networking mixers, awards banquets, and educational seminars.

  • Coordinate logistics, sponsorships, vendor relations, and volunteer support.

Financial Oversight

  • Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the board.

  • Oversee bookkeeping, financial reporting, and ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations.

  • Seek funding opportunities through sponsorships, grants, and partnerships.

Administrative Operations

  • Manage daily operations of the association office.

  • Handle correspondence, recordkeeping, and document preparation.

  • Ensure compliance with legal and organizational standards.

Independent Execution

  • Work autonomously to meet deadlines, solve problems, and drive initiatives forward.

  • Prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.

  • Other duties may be assigned by the Board of Directors as directed and according to the Bylaws.

Travel, Motor Vehicle and Licensing

EO will maintain proper Motor Vehicle for travel, with valid insurance and possess a clean and valid Driving record.  (subject to board review at any time). Ability to travel by vehicle in states to meetings as specified and approved by the Board. On occasion this position may require flight and travel to other areas in the United States. Business Mileage reimbursed based on Federal rate.

Compensation will be based on experience. Knowledge of the Building communities in Flint Hills area of Kansas is a benefit to understanding and understanding of the position and directives.
